A Rhinoceros vs. a Bear(sville)!

Adrian Belew

Adrian Belew

Adrian Belew is one of the most prolific, eclectic, and fiery musicians performing today.  His sound is unmistakably Adrian and is nearly impossible to categorize or contain…and he’s coming back to the Hudson Valley.

Adrian Belew is coming to Bearsville Theater in Woodstock.  According to the Bearsville website Adrian is playing a solo show featuring new material and new technology while “answer[ing] questions from the audience. He will talk about gear, past musical associations, the creative process, and many other subjects. The results are part illumination, part humorous.”  Adrian is generally not to be missed…

Bert & Tom – Adventures in Stick & Guitar

Bert Lams & Tom Griesgraber - Artists' Cafe 5.29.2010

“Music is like a sixth sense without which you cannot make a complete use of the other five.”  Actually Somerset Maugham said “money,” not “music,” but I think he would forgive my editorial license had he witnessed the performance by Bert Lams and Tom Griesgraber at the Artists’ Cafe (he hasn’t been able to hear much of anything for about 45 years now).

Bert and Tom played an eclectic selection ranging from the original “Search & Destroy,” full of heavy fuzzed out synth guitar, to a delicate piece by Chopin’s Prelude From the First Cello Suite.  Engaging and masterful, these seasoned musicians captivated a full house.  If you’re looking for adventurous music that may lead you into unknown terrain, head to Bert’s or Tom’s website.

For a glimpse of their performance, head over to the Artists’ Cafe on Youtube.  Watch for a followup post on the gear they used to create their amazing sounds.
